Bioinformatician & Medical Informatician: infectious diseases, evidence synthesis, clinical data
Adjiunckt, Department of Biomedical Engineering · Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology · Medical Informatics · Wrocław University of Science and Technology
I am a Bioinformatician and Medical Informatician specializing in infectious diseases, working across the full spectrum of research data, from pathogen sequencing and gut microbiome analysis to patient-level data collection, advanced analytics, visualization, and evidence synthesis through living, human-in-the-loop systematic reviews and meta-analyses. My work is highly transversal, involving close collaboration between clinical experts, statisticians, and data experts. Currently, I work as an Adjiunckt in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, part of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
PhD in Bioinformatics, summa cum laude (Center for Bioinformatics, University of Tübingen, 2019) · MSc in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw, 2013).
I am currently involved in the EU-funded CoMeCT project, and in several others listed on the EU Projects page.
I'm passionate about teaching, and a member of the Programme Committee for the Medical Informatics engineering programme at Politechnika Wrocławska, see Teaching.
I'm also passionate about scientific data visualization, to facilitate effective communication in interdisciplinary teams. As part of that work I build and maintain a set of research tools and living-review observatories, listed on the Tools page.
Since 2021 I have chaired the ORCHESTRA WP2 Working Group on Post-COVID Condition, coordinating large-scale data analyses across European cohorts. In 2024 I joined the Post-Acute Infection Syndrome (PAIS) Working Group of the Cohort Coordination Board (CCB), and in 2025 became Co-Chair of the CCB Artificial Intelligence Working Group.
If you are interested in collaborating, please get in touch at anna.gorska@pwr.edu.pl.
My research combines methods from bioinformatics, epidemiology, and biostatistics to turn heterogeneous, multi-cohort data into actionable evidence:
